originally was reading a film comment magazine about sofia coppola’s film about marie antoinette. this turned out to be the first of a two part series. when marie still had a head.
this is an early pop-like thing i did. i only made one. when my later work seemed to look better in sets i went back and copied the card twice, so that the center original wouldn’t be sitting alone.
53 weeks turns on a dime. we are only, what three weeks into 20/11, and already, today, this site speeds down a new road.
i have always been drawn to collage, have become more interested in the last two years, and have done some photo manipulations using various programs, so you could say i have been doing computer collage.
now, however, i want to mess around with paper and glue.
so, here is where i am gonna put my humble little efforts. hope and want to stay on this project for quite some time.
i owe a great debt to liz cohn, collage artist. she started making small collages on playing cards, and even let me collaborate with her on a set.
i decided i loved the size of the cards, but wasn't interested in them as cards. so, there are not any aces, numbers. hearts, or spades.
i hope my stuff is removed enough from her fantastic work. but, um, ya, i did borrow the card as a miniature canvas from her. thanks liz!
